    twenty-five.....

so, yeah, I guess I've reached the grand old age of twenty-five years......a quarter of a century..... A lot has happened in the world in that many years. I'm not sure how to feel exactly. In a way I feel a little depressed by it, because 25 just sounds so OLD. But, on the other hand, I'm pretty excited.

After all, this is the last age that I needed to be to do some of those things that are restricted because of one's age. Vehicle rentals?? They make you pay a "special fee" if you're between the ages of 21 and 25. Yeah, I know, because I had to do it once. So, now, ha ha, rental companies, no more fees out of me! The only other thing that's been bothering me is that you have to be thirty-five to run for President of the United States. Of course, I haven't necessarily been thinking that the White House would be anytime in my near future or anything, but I still don't like it that it's not even an option, merely because of my age. Hmmm..... on the other hand, I will be leaving the country in a few months, so that sort of limits me from the Presidency anyway.......what to do???? I guess I could always check into the age limits of the Prime Minister of Canada??? Perhaps that would be easier??? I have this strange feeling though, that there would be a lot of Canadians moving to Mexico.......or Asia........or Africa.........if I ever even ATTEMPTED to get into politics.....

maybe I'll just tackle the challenge of trying to be a housewife for now.........we shall see......

  • P.S. Yes, I'm going to start with a postscript... I just finished reading through this entire post and I'm quite sure it could win an award for the longest post ever. If you are very discouraged when you get to the end of it, don't say I didn't warn you. :)

Since I have neglected this site so much and have failed to post some of my favorite pictures lately, I am going to do a photo blitz and post all of them at once. Please bear with me....

Joe and I have had a wonderful summer with some amazing people. Here are our friends, Collin & Debbie.

Bill & Susan took us all out for dinner at Foxy's.

Debbie, Marie, and I borrowed Bill's coats for the boat ride. :)

The most amazing event of my life... the day Joseph proposed and I said "YES!!!!"

VBS '07!! Great bunch of people...

Joe had to spend two weeks in a town called Moosonee 400 miles northeast of Sioux. After VBS was over, I flew up to spend the last three days with him. We got the chance to ride on this paddle boat that took us out to the James Bay.

Joe's Nonna (grandma) came to visit from NYC and one day she taught me to make homemade pasta. (well... she TRIED to teach me... I'm not confident about it AT ALL!)

We had a church camping trip at Ojibway Park. It was a beautiful wknd. Joe enjoyed relaxing, fishing, and hanging out with his second favorite person, Kiersten. (of course, his first favorite is his mom) :)

We've been doing a lot of house shopping lately... fell in love with this house, but it wasn't in our budget so we had to give it up. We decided not to stress about it but to let God and Pat (our realtor) do their jobs. I know our house is out there somewhere!

Joe & I got the chance to have a special date before I left for home. I made chicken cordon bleu and we enjoyed lots of sparkling grape juice. :)

Our friends, Henry & Amy, got married on August and had a beautiful wedding. Nate was thinking that instead of saying (like some people do), "Does anyone object to this wedding?" saying, "Does anyone else want to JOIN this wedding?" Joe & I would've been the first ones on our way up the aisle. :) I know there would've been some furious relatives and friends, but it would almost have been worth it. :)

I thank God for these two very special people in my life. Steve & Janelle have become some of my best friends since I moved to Sioux Lookout. I will miss you guys so much. Thanks for all you've done for and meant to Joe and I.

We went to Cedar Point one day in August before Joe left, but it literally rained ALL DAY LONG!!! We got to go on ONE ride! (well, two if you count the carousel) :) We had fun being together, but it really dampened our spirits. (pardon the awful pun)

Kris, Tony, and I went camping/rafting with some dear friends from Ontario (oops, also from VA, eh Jeremy? sorry bout that)  on Labor Day wknd. (should I have said "Labour" for you, Sandy?) lol...

Ooooh, on to wedding details.... I'm having Gerbara Daisies in my wedding so my aunt, Irma, who owns a greenhouse offered to grow them for me. We had a "transplanting party" one evening with both sides of the family pitching in to help.

Thank you all for enduring to the end. If I get any comments at all, I'll be VERY amazed that you still have energy left to do that after you went through this marathon of pics. :) I'll TRY to do better and not post as many pics at a time like this again. Have an awesome weekend!

  • Ever sad...

My Joseph just left and is on his way home. It was SO hard to say goodbye to him. I can hardly bear the thought of not seeing him for a month. Thankfully, his friend, Sean, is with him and they will have a great time together, laughing and talking about everything under the sun. :)

I will definitely stay busy in the next several months with wedding plans. We finally set the date for April 26, 2008. That feels like forever far away and I KNOW it will be hard but we'll make it. We have to. There is no alternative. I know that God hasn't brought us this far in our relationship to leave us hanging now. He's going to be with us. My dearest friends, Pam and Carla, are going to be the wedding coordinaters so, between them and my sisters, there will be many crazy times ahead. :) Can't wait!!

  •  There is nothing more shocking than the sudden loss of a close friend who was always there, always smiling, full of life and so young. My friend Carrie was taken suddenly while she slept on Tuesday, June 12th. She was taking an afternoon nap and never woke up - she had diabetes and that combined with Cortisone cream she was using stopped her heart while she slept. It sounds so horrible and completely unlikely that it simply doesn't feel like reality right now. What made it so unbelievably hard was the night before we were all together at Awards night laughing, talking, making plans for the summer (she was supposed to come visit me) and looking foward to a GOOD summer. Now she is gone. I won't believe it until I attend the viewing and funeral this weekend. Her last xanga post was 10 hours before she passed and was a blessing to my heart. Such joy! She had come through difficult circumstances and was leaning on God - not ashamed, and totally trusting in Him. She was looking foward to her younger sister's wedding (she was to be the maid of honor). How do you reason with this? At my age life is looked at with a sense of invincibility and death is nothing more than a very distant event, one we will see coming from so far away. I miss her so much. It hurts all over again every time I see her pictures, or let myself stop to think about it, and there is so much pain yet to come this weekend. It has made me want to CLING to the ones I still have - to show and tell them how much they mean to me, how important they are in my life, and to soak up every moment I have with them.

Please visit Carrie's site to read her last post to understand how she talked, and how on fire she was, http://www.xanga.com/missmitchell

Here are some pictures of my memories with my friend Carrie - she loved to bake, cook, hang out with friends, be with kids, watch tons of movies, hockey, and was always, ALWAYS there at the events we have here in Sioux. I love you Carrie, always will, and I will miss you until I see you in Heaven.

About Me

  • I am blessed beyond all imagination. I am loved, first of all by my Heavenly Father, and then by my dear family, and then by the dearest man I know, Joseph Cospito. I love this man! The most exciting thing in my life right now is planning the wedding and anticipating a move to Sioux Lookout, ON in May. I know God has many adventures in store for us and I cannot help but feel almost overwhelmed by all that I've been given.
